Sydney’s first ever ROBOT FAIR & MOVIE FEST takes place at The Chauvel Cinema on Sunday 1st April highlighting the popularity of classic Japanese tin and plastic toy robots as well as the robot in the movies. It’s a chance for all robot collectors and admirers as well as sci-fi fans to enjoy an afternoon of robots on display and some incredible Japanese robot action on the big silver screen! Screening will be the remarkable Japanese “Gigantor” movie TETSUJIN 28 (M) from the legendary Toho Studios. Just as Godzilla was the first of Japan's giant monsters, Tetsujin-28 was the first of Japan's giant robots. It’s a throwback to a time when families stuck together, and giant fighting robots didn't need any super-weapons, just their own two fists and a heart of gold! A big budget product made only a few years ago complete with Toho’s famous miniatures of downtown Tokyo it demands to be seen on the big cinema screen!

As well there will excerpts from some very rare Japanese robot serials plus an episode of Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot which actually aired in Australia in the early 70’s. With your compere JAY KATZ and a number of very special surprises!

ROBOTS ON DISPLAY!  As well there will be hundreds of robots (of all sizes) on display from 1.00pm with many for sale or trade. Robot fans are encouraged to bring their own toy robots to enter them in the competition or just for the outing! Dealers are also welcome to set up tables. Please contact Coffin Ed at
